Install Instructions

Chandler-Gilbert Community College Spring 2005

1. You must install the java sdk before you install textpad. If you've already installed textpad, uninstall it before proceeding. Goto start menu, settings, control panel, add/remove software and remove textpad.

2. Install the java SDK

A. Insert install cd

B. Execute j2sdk-1_4_0_01-windows-i586.exe

C. Select next and agree to license

D. Accept the default install path

E. Accept the default browser by clicking Next

F. Accept the default components and the sdk installs by clicking next.

G. Click finish

H. On the install cd, execute j2sdk-1_4_0-doc.exe

I. Accept C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\ as the unzip to folder by clicking start. (If you want the docs to go to a different location, you can change the unzip folder.)

j. Close the self extractor window.

3. Install textpad

A. Insert install cd and open textpad folder

B. execute txpeng

C. click "Next" and "Yes" until software installs

D. deselect readme and click finish

4. Configure textpad

A. Start up textpad and select the menu item Configure..Preferences. Expand the Tools tree and click Compile Java. Then, make the Parameters textbox look as follows:
